About Sebastian Kitchen
I am a ACA Level 2 certified Integrative Psychotherapist and I bring to every session my commitment to the whole person in front me: body, mind and spirit. I create spaces of trust so that clients can freely explore the intricacies of their own lives. In that space I am a companion who meets you where you are at and walks alongside you until you can move and breathe as yourself again.
Psychotherapy has been for me the next step in a life of learning. My qualifications in the field are:
- Bachelor of Counselling and Psychotherapy – IKON
- Integrative Attachment Therapy Level One (IAT)
- Psychedelic Assistance Therapy (PAT) – IP&M – current
- Case Conceptualisation – IP&M
- The Gottman Method Couples Training Level One
- Emotion Focused Therapy Fundamentals
- Week-long Ecotherapy Training – Geoff Berry
- I attend regular individual, group and peer supervision and relevant conferences.
- I also have university degrees in Anthropology, English Literature, and Permaculture Design.
Over the years I have been very multi-passionate: growing up as a theatre & sports kid, practising Zen Thai Shiatsu, living with an Indigenous elder, making a documentary film, and living in a spiritual community, which all inform me as a therapist. My spiritual journey has exposed me to many wisdom lineages including: Vipassana, Ordinary Mind Zen Buddhism, Vedic meditation, Bon Dzogchen meditation and non-dual Self-Enquiry. I credit my time receiving and studying therapy with a greater peace, clarity and focus of mind, and a deeper well of humility and compassion for self and others, to which I am endlessly grateful.
My approach is collaborative, humanist and person-centered, meaning I help you to tap into your innate capacity for transformation. I draw from different evidence-based modalities to co-create a boutique treatment plan to suit your specific needs. These include: sensorimotor and somatic-based trauma theories, emotionally focussed therapy, focusing, psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, developmental psychology, existential therapy & parts work, to name a few. You can read more about my way of working at How I Work.
